Gran Canaria warehouse fire destroys 12 vehicles

Last night there was a fire in an industrial warehouse in El Maipez, in Jinamar, Telde, which the firefighters of the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium and the Telde, Arinaga and Las Palmas were still working on this morning, to put out.

The fire, which started shortly after midnight, forced the eviction of nearby buildings as a precaution. At the moment there are no personal injuries reported but there are considerable material damages, and according to witnesses several explosions have been heard.

The immense column of smoke could be seen from several kilometres away and twelve vehicles have been scorched by the flames, according to fire-fighters.

The plot was full of pallets, cars, trucks, scrap metal, construction material, two diesel tanks with 5,000 and 12,000 litre capacites, industrial plastic coils, acetylene and oxygen bottles. The National Police has opened an investigation.
