Calls to 012 for vaccinations have ‘crashed’ the phone system

The implementation of calling 012 to book a vaccination if you are aged 66-69 and haven’t had a call or SMS for your first dose, has crashed the phone system due to the volume of calls as 18,000 people contacted them today.

An ‘avalanche’ of calls has collapsed the service lines, which also shows how keen people in the Canary Islands are to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

A Health Service spokesperson has said that they are requesting people to be patient because the number is operational 24 hours a day, so if you don’t get through, then please try at a later time.

They also recognise that the service is predominantly in Spanish, so if you don’t speak the language (whichever nationality you are), please try and get someone to help you as they want to be able to assist you as smoothly and easily as possible.
