Woman arrested trying to smuggle drugs into Las Palmas prison for an ‘intimate’ date

The National Police have arrested a 38-year-old woman in Telde, in Gran Canaria, after she was caught trying to smuggle drugs into the Las Palmas II prison, when she an ‘intimate’ date with her partner who was inside serving a sentence.

Police were tipped off that the woman was acting as a drug mule with capsules of hashish and heroin inserted in her private parts, that would be passed to her partner during their intimate meeting as this is the only time the couple can meet without a guard present.

According to the official press release, agents were waiting for the woman when she arrived, and due to their suspicions organised a full body search before she was allowed into the pre-arranged meeting.

During the search they found that she was concealing 43 grams of heroin, divided into 26 packages containing 430 doses; 97 grams of hashish in 50 wrappers, as well as a Nokia mobile phone and smoking papers.

The woman, who already has a police record, was duly arrested and prevented from seeing her partner, and charged with drug trafficking before being passed to the judicial authorities for sentencing.
