Van driver arrested in Gran Canaria with 360kg of hashish in the back
The National Police has arrested a 46-year-old man in the port of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria, after finding 360 kilograms of hashish in the back of his van during a routine control of vehicles on a ferry from Fuerteventura.
In a statement, the Canary Islands Police Headquarters explained that the man’s van was searched because he was acting suspicious, and after identifying him they looked in the back and found twelve large bundles of what turned out to be hashish.
After arresting him for drug trafficking the bundles were weighed and tested and confirmed to be drugs with a street value of more than 7 million euros, and he has been handed over to the judicial authorities awaiting trial.
