The Guardia Civil have recovered a high-value road bicycle that was stolen in early March in the municipality of La Aldea de San Nicolás, Gran Canaria.
The bike’s owner reported the theft to the National Police in Maspalomas, stating it had been taken from outside a shop while he was inside.
An investigation was launched by the Guardia Civil, which led officers to a breakthrough in early April. They discovered the stolen bicycle being advertised for sale online at a price of €9,000.
After contacting the seller and confirming it was the stolen item, officers were able to recover the bike and identify the suspect, who is now being investigated for theft.
Bike Returned in Pristine Condition
Thanks to what authorities described as a swift and effective response, the bicycle was retrieved in perfect condition. On 2nd May, it was handed over to a trusted intermediary appointed by the owner, who was abroad at the time, to be sent back to him via express courier.
The case has been passed to the duty magistrate at the Court of First Instance in Santa María de Guía (Las Palmas), where proceedings are ongoing.
