The new Siam Park will be built in Gran Canaria

Loro Parque has confirmed its commitment to continue with the construction of the new Siam Park in San Bartolomé de Tirajana in Gran Canaria, after making a presentation to members of the business world and press earlier today (Wednesday), in the Literary Cabinet of the town hall.

The legal advisor of Loro Parque, Jaime Rodríguez Cíe, stressed that the company maintains its commitment despite the fact, that the delays they have suffered, will increase the construction costs of the new water park and the 300-bed hotel from 100 million euros to 160 million, but will provide over 600 jobs when open.

He explained that they were very pessimistic a couple of months ago about the possibility that Marco Aurelio Pérez would return as mayor of San Bartolomé de Tirajana after the elections, who they blame for the lack of support of the project. But the foreseeable entry of CC into the local government through a pact, makes them much more optimistic.

Loro Parque reported that they have already spent 30 million euros without even starting the construction work, and that they still have to complete the channelling of the ravine, but are waiting for the insular Water Council and the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council to give them permission.

Christoph Kiessling, the newly appointed honorary consul of Thailand in the Canary Islands, revealed that the new Siam Park, which will be over a kilometre long on a plot in El Veril, will be more modern with even better attractions than the one in Tenerife.

The focal point of the water park will be the ‘Tree of Life’, an artificial structure that will simulate a gigantic tree, 32 metres high, from which numerous slides will branch out. To avoid the queues that happen at the Tower of Power in Siam Park in Adeje, this will be one of the slides that emerges from the Tree of Life.
