The Local Police save the life of a pedestrian who had a heart attack in the street

A Local Policeman of Santa Lucía de Tirajana in Gran Canaria, saved the life of a 67-year-old man yesterday (Monday) who suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest while walking down Calle Lanzarote.

According to the police press release, "the rapid intervention of the agent who carried out resuscitation exercises with further assistance from health personnel; they managed to revive the man and recover his pulse."

The incident occurred at 9:30 yesterday morning when the policeman was carrying out regular neighbourhood patrol, and was summoned by several local residents who had seen a man collapse to the ground on Calle Lanzarote with blood on his head.

The officer called for help, assessed the situation, and started to give the man CPR and locals helped by blocking the road and calling the Emergency Services.

When the health personnel arrived, they were able to verify that several officers were collaborating in the resuscitation of the man, and they took over using a defibrillator to restart his heart.

After stabilizing him, the man was transferred to the Insular Hospital in Las Palmas for further treatment where he is expected to make a full recovery.
