A 60-year-old man died yesterday morning Sunday) after being run over in Lanzarote, and three other people suffered minor injuries in a collision between two vehicles that occurred at 9:20pm on New Years Eve (Saturday) as reported by CECOES.

The first accident took place on the LZ-2 road, near the municipality of Tías, involving a 56-year-old man, who was badly injured, and two women aged 27 and 29, who suffered minor injuries, respectively. All three were transferred in ambulances to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital for further treatment.

Firefighters had to free the 56-year-old driver of the car because he was trapped inside after it overturned due to the collision with the other vehicle.

The second incident took place at 6:21 yesterday morning (Sunday) at a roundabout near the Yaiza marina, where a 60-year-old man died after being run over and getting trapped under the vehicle.

Firefighters were in charge of extracting the man from underneath the vehicle as carefully as possible so that he could be assessed and treated by SUC paramedics, who unfortunately only confirm his death due to his injuries.

The man’s body has been taken for autopsy and official identification, and the police are investigating what happened. No one else was injured in the incident.
