October had the 3rd highest number of sunshine hours since 1983

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has released data showing that October in the Canary Islands was one of the warmest and driest since records began. The average temperature for the archipelago was 21°C, which is almost 1° above the norm, and by province, the temperature was described as "very warm" in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (22.5° on average) and "warm" in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (19.2° on average).

With regard to rainfall, it was classed as a "dry" month as the average rainfall was only 8.2 millimetres, which represents just 30% of what is expected in October comparing the average to the reference period between 1981 and 2010.

AEMET places October 2022 as the 12th warmest month in the Canary Islands since 1961, especially in the province of Las Palmas, and the 13th driest since that year, it was also the October with the 3rd highest number of sunshine hours since 1983, only surpassed by the months of October in 2007 and 2009.
