A violent incident occurred in the south of Tenerife yesterday morning (Saturday, January 13th), in the town of Cabo Blanco just before 10:00am, leaving a 46-year-old man in critical condition after he was attacked with a machete and bats among other weapons.
Upon receiving an alert, the Guardia Civil were dispatched to the scene where they found the man lying on the ground covered in blood, and called for backup and medical support.
According to the police reports, the victim was located by the attackers inside his residence. After attempting to force entry, they succeeded in making him leave the building, where he was attacked with machetes and sticks, including an electric baton. He sustained severe injuries to the chest, head, and limbs, resulting in significant blood loss.
Sources co-lose to the investigation claim that the attack was part of an ongoing ‘squatting’ case and a ‘settling of scores’.
Two ambulances and all available Arona Local Police personnel were deployed to the scene. Witnesses reported that " five Local Police patrol cars and three police motorbikes arrived at the scene, followed by three more from the Guardia Civil" managing to regain control of the situation and support the Guardia Civil officers.

SUC paramedics managed to stabilise the man, but due to the severity of his injuries, they had to induce him into a coma. He was subsequently transported in critical condition to the University Hospital Nuestra Señora de Candelaria. At the time of publication, his current medical prognosis remains unknown.
Meanwhile, officers collected data and statements from eyewitnesses. Shortly afterwards, near the scene, one of the suspected attackers, a 43-year-old man originally from Arona, was arrested and taken into custody.
Members of the Judicial Police of the Guardia Civil have taken charge of the proceedings and are handling the case. It is possible that more arrests will be made.
