A man has died after suffering a head injury during a fight in Gran Canaria late on Saturday night, in the town of Arguineguín, on the southwest coast of the island.
According to the Guardia Civil, a verbal dispute between two men escalated into violence, with one man allegedly striking the other. The victim, a 49-year-old man, fell and hit his head, suffering injuries that proved fatal.
Officers launched an investigation overnight and were able to identify the suspected attacker.
Police say the man later handed himself in at the main police station in Santa María de Guía early on Sunday morning.
He remains in custody as investigations into the incident continue.
