Las Palmas Carnival closes tonight with a spectacular drone show

The festivities of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Carnival will come to a close tonight, Sunday, with a display from 230 drones in the sky of Las Canteras, which will reveal details of the chosen theme for 2025, following three and a half weeks of celebrations that began on January 25th under the theme of "Carnivals of the World."

This luminous spectacle will replace the traditional fireworks as the culmination of the first edition of these celebrations, which are entirely designated as being of International Interest for Tourism.

The planned display will be the largest ever in the Canary Islands, featuring a total of 230 drones equipped with RGB LED lights to bring to life 13 colourful scenes depicting various figures dedicated to paying homage to the Sardine in its final farewell.

Once again, La Puntilla will be the area from which the final act of the Carnival is executed, however, this time it will serve as the take-off and landing area for the swarm of drones, which will reach a height of 120 metres, after the Sardine has been returned the sea to be burned.

The Burial of the Sardine will commence in Plaza Manuel Becerra at 7:30pm and will proceed to La Puntilla accompanied by the funeral procession led by the Carnival Queen and her entourage.

There are also daytime activities from midday, and later on, from 9:30pm onwards, a concert featuring "Te regalo vivir", a tribute to Marc Anthony and Juan Luis Guerra at Plaza Saulo Torón.
