In a touching display of compassion, lifeguards at Corralejo beaches in Fuerteventura have successfully rescued a loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) from a certain demise.
The turtle was entangled in a web of plastics and nets, hindering its ability to swim and compromising its capacity to feed, as it was unable to dive in search of crustaceans.
Rescuers carefully untangled the turtle from the various plastics, guided by the instructions of environmental personnel from the Insular Council. Following the rescue operation, the turtle was joyfully returned to the open water.
This heartwarming rescue not only saved a majestic sea creature from a life-threatening situation but also highlighted the importance of environmental awareness and the collective effort to protect marine life.
The tireless dedication of the lifeguards and collaboration with environmental authorities emphasise the positive impact that individuals and communities can have on preserving the delicate balance of our oceans.
