GC-1 closures for resurfacing works this week in the south of Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria’s highways maintenance department have announced night-time closures in both directions on the main GC-1 motorway in the south for resurfacing work between the exits for Pasito Blanco and Arguineguín, starting from tonight (Sunday) at 11pm until Thursday morning.

Diversions will be in place every night from 11pm between kilometres 50 to 56 of the highway in both directions passing through the municipalities of San Bartholome de Tirajana and Mogan, with traffic being sent off to use the old national road, southbound, from the Pasito Blanco/Meloneras exit, to rejoin the motorway at Arguineguín.

Similarly, northbound traffic coming from the direction of Puerto Rico will leave the motorway at the Arguineguín exit, to rejoin ahead of El Tablero.

The road closures are expected to be in stretches as per their progress with the work, every evening from 11pm to 6am the following morning when the roads are expected to be open once again, albeit with the potential for reduced capacities and single-lane traffic in either direction.
