Freak accident as taxi plunges 5 metres into a building site

A freak accident happened this morning in Calle Pancho Guerra in the capital of Gran Canaria, where a taxi fell from a height of 5 metres off the edge of the road, went through a barrier and landed in a building being built below.

According to witnesses, "the driver stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake when he was about to park in front of the construction site.!

Fortunately, according to the Las Palmas Local Police, the driver wasn’t seriously injured as the airbag deployed upon impact and he had his seat belt on. Also, luckily, he didn’t have any passengers in the car at the time of the accident.

 

As you can see, the car was retrieved by one of the cranes on site, under the direction of the fire brigade.
