A doctor in Gran Canaria has been arrested for a second time in two months over alleged sexual offences involving female patients. A court in Las Palmas has ordered the detention of the 37-year-old medic, who works for the Canarian Health Service, over claims of sexual assault affecting at least ten women.

Sources from the Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Canarias (TSJC) confirmed that the suspect was detained yesterday, Tuesday 7th April. While in custody, officers from the National Police carried out a search of his home as part of an investigation that had been kept under strict secrecy.

He is expected to appear before a judge within the standard 72-hour legal timeframe.

Crucially, this is not the first time the doctor has been arrested. He was previously detained on 3rd February in connection with similar allegations but was later released.

Authorities have now confirmed that he has a history of comparable offences, having been arrested and convicted in the past for inappropriate conduct involving patients.

Investigators believe the suspect repeatedly abused his position of trust as a medical professional, allegedly targeting vulnerable women during consultations. Victims reportedly described feeling paralysed and confused during the incidents.

Police say the alleged assaults took place across several medical practices and have not ruled out the possibility that more victims could come forward.

The case remains ongoing, but the fact that the suspect had prior offences and was previously released is likely to intensify scrutiny over how such cases are handled.
