Dead body found at landfill site after being collected by rubbish trucks

The corpse of a man has been found this morning (Thursday) at the Juan Grande landfill site, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana in Gran Canaria. According to the first data, the body would have reached the waste processing plant in a rubbish collection truck that operates on the outskirts of Telde.

At the time of publication, the National Police are awaiting the results of the forensic report and an autopsy to determine the cause of death and to officially identify who it is.

According to their initial press release, the body shows no sign of violence, so one of the hypotheses that is being considered, is that it is the body of a homeless person who could have been sleeping in a garbage container and had died, or was crushed.

The Gran Canaria Sur Ecopark, where the body was found, manages domestic (municipal) or assimilable waste from Agüimes, Ingenio, La Aldea de San Nicolás, Mogán, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Telde, and Valsequillo.

The glass, paper, and cardboard collected by the municipalities are sent directly to plants designated by the Collective Systems of Extended Producer Responsibility. The light packaging is sent directly to the Light Packaging Selection and Classification Plant of the Ecoparque Gran Canaria Norte.

The National Police investigation is ongoing.
