Campers removed from Las Canteras Beach by police

On Monday morning (6th January), the Canary Police evicted several people who had set up tents and were camping illegally on Las Canteras Beach in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

According to an official statement shared on the police's social media account, one camper was located near the now-closed sand Nativity Scene (Belén de Arena), while another was near Peña La Vieja.

The Canary Police emphasised the importance of respecting public spaces to ensure they remain accessible for everyone to enjoy.

The police described the operation as "peaceful," highlighting their approach to maintaining order while minimising confrontation. The incident demonstrates efforts to enforce regulations regarding public spaces in one of Gran Canaria's most iconic areas.

Authorities reminded the public of the need to adhere to local rules governing the use of beaches and other shared spaces, ensuring they are preserved for the enjoyment of everyone and mustn’t be abused.
