Another of Tenerife's beaches is closed due to rockfalls

The Santa Cruz Council has announced the closure of access to Playa Benijo beach in Tenerife, one of the island's most picturesque locations, due to ongoing rockfalls in the area.

Technical reports have been commissioned to evaluate the risk posed by the unstable slope above the beach, but the Council has taken these preventive measures to ensure public safety and is urgently analysing potential solutions to address the issue.

Emergency personnel from local rescue and lifeguard services have reported material falling onto the beach in recent weeks, indicating possible instability in parts of the hillside. After verifying these observations and claims, the Council decided to close the beach access to prevent any accidents.

Although the situation has not yet reached a critical level, it is essential to conduct thorough studies and take necessary precautions. Warning signs will be placed at the beach access points to inform visitors of the potential dangers. Additionally, security and emergency personnel in the Anaga massif will provide information to the public, urging everyone to act responsibly and avoid unnecessary risks.
