A motorcyclist loses a leg after an accident in Gran Canaria

A 60-year-old man had to be airlifted to the Doctor Negrín University Hospital in Gran Canaria yesterday afternoon (Friday), after a serious motorbike accident in which it is reported that he lost a leg.

According to the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), the accident happened at Risco Faneque in Agaete, in the north of the island, after a collision between a car and a motorcycle.

They received an urgent call informing them of the accident and activated the relevant emergency resources to the scene, where paramedics treated him and stabilised him before he was transferred by helicopter to hospital for emergency treatment.

According to their report, no one else was injured in the accident, and the man is in serious condition in hospital. The Guardia Civil are investigating the cause of the accident.
