Police interrupt a car meeting in San Miguel with over 50 attendees

The security forces continue to carry out the necessary work to enforce compliance with the restrictions established by the health authorities to continue fighting against the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

This weekend the Guardia Civil were called to break up a group of over 50 people who had gathered in the parking lot of a service station located in the municipality of San Miguel de Abona in the south of Tenerife, who had met with their ‘tuned’ cars to show them off to people.

Events and gatherings of this nature are not permitted under current regulations, as only groups of 4 four people were permitted to meet at the weekend (6 from today), and especially as they weren’t respecting any social distancing, many weren’t wearing masks, and in total 18 people were fined.

Authorities continue to remind people that just because Tenerife is now in Level 2, you cannot relax or become complacent about health guidelines, as the island could quite easily go back to Level 3 if situations like this lead to a rebound and increase in cases.
