The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds in Lanzarote tomorrow, Monday 29th June, with gusts expected to reach up to 70km/h.
The warning will come into force at 3:00am on Monday and remain in place until 11:59pm, covering almost the entire day.
According to AEMET, the strongest winds will blow from the north-east, with the most severe gusts expected across the southern half of Lanzarote, particularly during the early hours of the morning and again later in the afternoon and evening.
Residents and visitors are advised to take extra care, especially in exposed coastal areas and on higher ground, where strong crosswinds could make driving more difficult. Loose outdoor furniture and other unsecured items should also be fastened or brought indoors.
Weather outlook
For today, Sunday, AEMET is forecasting mainly cloudy skies in the north of Lanzarote, while the rest of the island will enjoy generally fair conditions with only a few clouds.
Temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged, with overnight lows between 19°C and 21°C and daytime highs of around 26°C.
The trade winds will continue to blow throughout the day, with occasional strong intervals ahead of Monday's stronger conditions.
