Woman in serious condition after near drowning in Caleta de Fuste
A 59-year-old woman is in serious condition following a near-drowning incident at La Guirra beach in Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura. The woman was rescued and promptly transported to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura by an ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC).
According to a statement from the Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre (Cecoes), the incident occurred at around 5:15pm yesterday (Friday).
A doctor who happened to be nearby provided initial medical assistance until the emergency services arrived. Once stabilised by the SUC medical personnel, the woman was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
The authorities responded swiftly after receiving the alert, ensuring the necessary resources were dispatched to aid the victim. The woman had shown signs of drowning upon emerging from the water.
