The Canary Islands will enjoy another largely settled day today, Wednesday, with cloudier skies in the north, sunshine dominating in the south, comfortable temperatures and refreshing trade winds.

For tourists and residents alike, the best beach weather is expected in the southern resort areas of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, while northern districts may see more persistent cloud cover at times.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), temperatures will remain comfortable with little change from recent days, while northerly winds continue to influence conditions across the islands.

The strongest winds are expected on exposed coasts and higher ground, particularly on the eastern and north-western slopes of the mountainous islands.

For those heading to the coast, sea conditions will be generally moderate, although stronger winds may create rougher waters in some areas. A northerly swell of around one metre is expected.

Island by island forecast for Wednesday 17th June 2026:

Tenerife
Tenerife will experience a mixed day, with cloudier conditions affecting much of the north of the island, particularly during the morning and overnight periods. Areas such as Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, Los Realejos and parts of the Anaga region are likely to see extensive cloud cover at times.

However, conditions will be considerably brighter across the east and south. Popular tourist resorts including Costa Adeje, Playa de las Américas, Los Cristianos, Golf del Sur and Amarilla Golf can expect long sunny spells and only occasional patches of cloud.

Northerly winds will strengthen along the east coast and in the far north-west of the island, while lighter sea breezes develop along western coastal areas. In the Teide National Park and central summit regions, north-westerly winds will be noticeable, particularly at higher elevations.
General temperature range: Overnight low of 20°C and daytime high of 27°C.

Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is expected to enjoy largely fine weather, especially across the south and west of the island. Tourist hotspots such as Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés, Meloneras, Puerto Rico and Mogán should see plenty of sunshine throughout the day.

In contrast, northern areas including Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Arucas, Teror and Firgas may experience periods of cloud, especially during the morning hours, although lengthy sunny intervals are also expected.

The northerly wind will be most noticeable on eastern and north-western slopes, occasionally becoming strong. Sheltered areas in the south-west will benefit from lighter breezes and calmer conditions.
General temperature range: Overnight low of 20°C and daytime high of 25°C.

Lanzarote
Lanzarote will start the day with a fair amount of cloud cover, particularly across northern municipalities such as Haría and surrounding areas.
During the afternoon, there remains a small possibility of light drizzle in the far north, although any rainfall is expected to be brief and insignificant. Elsewhere, brighter spells will develop, especially towards the south and along the eastern coast.

Popular visitor areas including Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca should enjoy a mixture of sunshine and cloud, with comfortable temperatures throughout the day.

Northerly winds will continue across the island, creating a fresh feel in more exposed coastal locations.
General temperature range: Overnight low of 20°C and daytime high of 26°C.

Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura can expect a generally pleasant day with intervals of cloud, particularly during the morning. As the day progresses, skies will become increasingly clear across the south-east and eastern coastal areas. Resort destinations including Corralejo, Caleta de Fuste, Costa Calma and Morro Jable should see lengthy sunny periods during the afternoon and evening.

The northerly wind will remain a feature throughout the island, particularly along exposed Atlantic-facing coastlines, although conditions should remain favourable for most outdoor activities.
