The Canary Islands will continue to see largely settled weather today, Wednesday, although some islands could experience occasional light rain, according to the latest reports from the Spanish Met Office, AEMET.

Skies will generally remain mostly clear with intervals of high cloud, but cloud cover will increase in northern areas of some islands. Weak and occasional showers are more likely in La Palma and Tenerife during the afternoon, particularly inland.

Temperatures will see little overall change, although some inland and higher areas may notice a slight drop compared to earlier in the week.

Wind and Sea Conditions

Moderate north-easterly trade winds will continue, with strong intervals expected along north-western and south-eastern coastal areas during the afternoon. In mid-altitude and summit areas, winds will be light and variable, although Tenerife’s central peaks may see moderate south-westerly winds strengthening at times.

At sea, variable winds of force 2 to 4 are forecast, becoming east to north-east force 3 or 4 and locally strengthening to force 5 in some areas. Conditions will range from slight to moderate, with a north or north-westerly swell of around one metre.

Island-by-Island Forecast for Wednesday 6th May 2026:

Lanzarote
Lanzarote will see periods of cloud throughout the day, although brighter spells are also expected. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, with a slight drop in daytime highs in western parts of the island. Moderate north-easterly winds will be noticeable, particularly along exposed coastal stretches.
General temperatures: 16°C min and 23°C max.

Fuerteventura
Similar conditions are expected in Fuerteventura, with intervals of cloud and sunny breaks. Maximum temperatures may dip slightly in western areas, but overall values will remain comfortable. Moderate north-easterly winds will persist across the island.
General temperatures: 17°C min and 22°C max.

Gran Canaria
Northern parts of Gran Canaria will experience more persistent cloud cover, with increasing cloud in eastern areas during the afternoon. There is a small chance of weak and occasional light showers in these zones.

Elsewhere, skies will remain mostly clear. Temperatures will stay steady along the coast but may fall slightly — and in some places moderately — in inland areas, particularly in northern mid-altitudes and summit regions.

Moderate north-easterly winds will strengthen at times on north-west and south-east slopes, with the possibility of occasional strong gusts during daylight hours. Light sea breezes are expected along south-western coasts. Summit areas will see light northerly winds.
General temperatures: 18°C min and 23°C max.

Tenerife
Northern Tenerife will remain largely cloudy, while the rest of the island will begin the day mostly clear before cloud increases from around midday.

Light, occasional showers are likely in inland areas of the eastern slopes during the afternoon. These are expected to be brief and generally weak.

Temperatures will dip slightly along the coast and more noticeably inland, where some areas could see a moderate — and locally marked — fall compared to recent days.

Moderate north-easterly winds will affect most coastal areas, with sea breezes along western shores. In the central summits, moderate westerly winds will prevail.
General temperatures: 19°C min and 24°C max.
