Two men saved the life of a whale on Monday off the coast of Fuerteventura that was in visible distress because it was entangled in a rope and couldn’t get free.
A pleasure boat from the ‘Fuerteventura Full Experience’ company sighted the animal in distress and did not hesitate to go to its aid, with a man named César Espino going straight into the water to help it.
The rescue lasted several hours and according to Espino, the whale was exhausted and had injuries caused by the ropes, but upon detecting his presence, it didn’t submerge and swim away, it let him get closer and stayed near the surface so that he could help it by removing the rope.
Eventually, when it was freed, the whale did swim away much to the joy of the people on the boat who witnessed this remarkable incident.
This is not the first time that César Espino has saved a whale in this manner, as in 2016 he rescued another one that was in a similar situation.
