The Canary Islands Police have arrested two people in the south of Fuerteventura on suspicion of fraud and drug trafficking, according to reports from the regional government.
The first arrest took place in Morro Jable (Pájara), where officers from the Operational Response Group located a man who was the subject of two court warrants.
One was issued by the Court of First Instance and Instruction No. 6 of Puerto del Rosario, and another by the Criminal Court No. 3 of Gijón in mainland Spain, relating to a fraud offence.
A few hours later, in Costa Calma, officers spotted a driver carrying out what appeared to be a suspicious transaction from his vehicle. On approaching, they confirmed that he was handing over crack cocaine to another individual.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 300 grams of hashish pollen and €595 in cash in small denominations, leading to his arrest for an alleged drug trafficking offence.
Police say both detainees will remain in custody while the necessary reports are completed, and they will be brought before a judge in due course.
