The Emergency services rescued three holidaymakers, including a five-year-old girl, from the sea yesterday afternoon (Friday), who were in distress near Playa del Duque in Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:35pm, as reported by the 112 emergency services, whose report says that the young girl was initially rescued from the water by local swimmers, while the other two were helped by private boats.

Once on land medical personnel assessed the young girl who was found to have sustained minor injuries, so was taken by ambulance to Hospiten Sur Hospital in Las Americas for further treatment.

Meanwhile, another of those rescued, a 39-year-old woman, showed signs of drowning and had a head injury, so she too was rushed to Hospiten Sur for urgent treatment.

The emergency services have praised the quick response from bystanders and the private boat owners for their quick actions which were crucial in ensuring the safety and medical attention of the people involved.
