Three people have been arrested in connection with the violent assault of an 88-year-old British tourist in Los Cristianos, an attack that ultimately claimed the victim’s life.
The National Police have confirmed the arrests following the incident, which took place last Wednesday in the popular tourist resort in the south of Tenerife. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.
In a statement, the National Police confirmed that three individuals have been detained in relation to the attack and that the investigation “continues to progress”.
According to reports, the victim had been visiting Tenerife to celebrate his birthday with his wife when the assault took place near a well-known holiday apartment complex, Victoria Court 2, in Los Cristianos.
The incident has shocked both residents and visitors in one of Tenerife’s busiest tourist destinations, raising concerns about the vulnerability of elderly travellers and the impact of violent crime in popular resort areas.
At this stage, police have not released details regarding the identities or nationalities of those arrested, the charges they may face, or whether further arrests are expected. They are continuing their enquiries and have appealed for patience while the investigation remains active.
The man’s death has attracted considerable attention both in the Canary Islands and in the UK, where the case has been widely reported.
