The Local Police stopped a man yesterday, Monday after he was found riding an electric scooter at speeds exceeding 100 km/h in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The incident, described by authorities as highly dangerous, took place in the Port area of the city, where Local Police units intervened to bring the rider to a halt.

Following the stop, the rider tested positive for drugs in a roadside screening. He was also reported for possession of hashish, according to a statement shared by the police on social media.

The police have highlighted the serious risks posed by reckless use of electric scooters, particularly at extreme speeds.

Electric scooters are subject to strict regulations across Spain, including speed limits and safety requirements. Incidents such as this have raised renewed concerns about misuse and enforcement, especially in busy urban areas.

Authorities have not released further details about the individual but confirmed that appropriate legal action has been taken.
