Pensioner smashes bus window after driver refuses to stop in Gran Canaria

A man in his seventies was arrested in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria after allegedly smashing the door window of a moving bus when the driver refused to let him off between stops.

The incident happened at around 8.30pm on Saturday while the number 12 bus was travelling along Paseo Blas Cabrera Felipe with about 20 passengers on board.

According to the Local Police, the man demanded to get off immediately but was told he would have to wait until the next designated stop.

He reportedly reacted violently, using an emergency hammer to break a window in one of the front doors before attempting to leave the vehicle while it was still moving.

Police said the man also shouted and insulted people during the incident, causing alarm among passengers. The driver was forced to stop the bus and suspend the service.

Local Police officers attended the incident and arrested the man on suspicion of endangering road safety and causing a public disturbance.
