Over 400,000 people flood the centre of Santa Cruza for Carnival's grand finale

In a dazzling display, more than 400,000 people inundated the centre of Santa Cruz as Piñata Saturday marked the grand finale of this year's Carnival, which tonight will officially be closed and unveil the theme for the 2025 edition.

Carnival Square was transformed into a lively spectacle of wigs, glitter, and fun from midday when the last ‘Day Carnival’ of this edition started the celebrations.

Uninterrupted music and the performances from the carnival groups took centre stage throughout the day, alongside the traditional masked revellers.

Families and friends danced away on the Plaz de La Candelaria stage until 9:00pm to the beats of Carnaboom Latino, the Gomera Orchestra, the Maquinaria Band, the Sabrosa Orchestra, and the Dorada Band. Additionally, COPE radio lined up a roster of artists in the Plaza Principe until 10:00pm, followed by performances from Pepe Benavente, Maraury, and Tropicana.

However, the main attraction awaited at the Francisco La Roche main stage, where international stars Luis Fonsi and Joseph Fonseca were waiting to perform.

The highly anticipated event started a bit later than planned due to some sound issues, causing a bit of frustration among the crowd, but that was all forgotten when they hit the stage, and the party continued long into the night.
