A motorcyclist is in a serious condition after a road traffic accident in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria this morning (Tuesday).

The crash happened shortly after 9.30am at the junction of Calle Churruca and Fernando Guanarteme. A car was also involved in the collision.

Emergency services were called to the roadside, where paramedics treated the injured rider. He suffered a serious head injury and was stabilised before being taken to the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín for further treatment.

No details have been released about the man's age or the circumstances leading up to the crash.

Local Police also attended the crash and have launched an investigation to establish exactly how the collision occurred.
