A 34-year-old man has been hospitalised after coming off his electric scooter on Tuesday night in Golf Del Sur in the south of Tenerife.
It was just after midnight when the man, who was riding along Avenida José Miguel Galván Bello, lost control and crashed.
112 received an alert and the Emergency Control Centre dispatched the necessary resources to the location given, where paramedics treated the man for multiple injuries, which were described as moderate, before taking him by ambulance to hospital.
Firefighters also attended to assist, while officers from the Guardia Civil have opened an investigation into the incident.
It comes as the Canary Islands continue to see a rise in scooter-related accidents, and other road users, and pedestrians, want clear clarification of the rules of use.
In March, police in Arrecife (Lanzarote) fined more than 50 riders in a single day during a crackdown on unsafe scooter use.
Earlier this month, a man was seriously hurt after crashing a modified electric scooter into a car in Lanzarote. Authorities later confirmed he was more than four times over the legal alcohol limit.
