A man tragically passed away on Friday (8th November) after being pulled from the water in a state of cardiac arrest at Costa Calma beach, located in the municipality of Pájara, in Fuerteventura.
The Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received a 1-1-2 alert at around 1:00pm reporting that a lifeguard had rescued a swimmer in cardiac arrest, and was trying to resuscitate him on the beach.
CECOES immediately dispatched the necessary emergency resources and, upon arrival, paramedics took over and continued with advanced resuscitation procedures. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, they couldn’t revive him and the man’s death was confirmed on the scene.
The Guardia Civil initiated the necessary proceedings related to the incident and guarded the body until a coroner came to authorize its removal for official identification and autopsy.
