A 56-year-old woman is in critical condition after experiencing a cardiac arrest whist in one of the restaurants at a water park in Corralejo, Fuerteventura, according to reports from the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES).
The incident occurred yesterday afternoon (Friday 9th August) at 3:30pm which is when CECOES received an alert about a female holidaymaker who had suffered from a heart attack at the park, requesting urgent medical support.
At the scene, the park's lifeguards, along a member of the public who identified as a doctor, immediately began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and used a defibrillator to try and revive her, and fortunately their efforts were successful as they managed to restore her pulse.
SUC Medical Personnel, and a doctor and nurse from the local health centre, arrived shortly after and stabilised the woman before transporting her in a critical state to the General Hospital of Fuerteventura by ambulance for essential treatment.
It is hoped that she will make a full recovery after the quick actions of the park lifeguards and the member of the public who managed to revive her.
