Historic air show soars into Tenerife for the first time ever

In a momentous occasion that will surely take Tenerife by storm, Santa Cruz is set to witness its very first air show, breaking new grounds in the municipality's event history. A sensational display of airborne prowess is poised to electrify the skies above Las Teresitas beach on Sunday, November 5th, marking a thrilling debut that promises to be nothing short of extraordinary.

The historic milestone was celebrated during a high-level meeting of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, which brought together key figures to ensure the successful coordination of this spectacle. The skyward extravaganza, being organised by the Canary Islands Air Command, will be a momentous first for the island.

The selection of Santa Cruz as the location for this awe-inspiring event was praised by Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez. He conveyed the importance of the occasion, stating, "This is a momentous event for our municipality and will undoubtedly generate great anticipation among the citizens of Santa Cruz and visitors from other parts of the island, who will flock here to savour an exhibition of unparalleled grandeur."

In the same breath, he acknowledged the unique challenges posed by this extravaganza, acknowledging the need for a robust security and traffic management plan: "It will naturally entail a special effort to design, coordinate, and implement a specific security and traffic plan that can seamlessly accommodate the expected influx of spectators on what will be an unforgettable day."

Details of the air exhibition were unveiled during the meeting, with a comprehensive discussion on the logistics and strategies to ensure the event's smooth execution and the maintenance of public safety, including steps to optimize parking areas and, intriguingly, the possibility of a park-and-ride system near the beach or San Andrés town centre.

The exhibition's start time is scheduled for 12 noon on Sunday, November 5th, and the Canary Islands Air Command revealed that there will be rehearsals of the participating aircraft in the days leading up to the event. Furthermore, the Spanish Navy will provide maritime support in the vicinity of the beach. The program promises a breathtaking performance by the Parachute Acrobatic Team, set to captivate the audience within a specially designated area on the beach.
