Female body found floating in the sea in Fuerteventura
Yesterday afternoon (Monday), the Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received a call alerting that a member of the public had spotted the body of a person floating in the sea in Costa Calma in the west of Fuerteventura.
Maritime Rescue teams promptly responded to the area to retrieve the body which has been identified as a 69-year-old woman, who was in cardiopulmonary arrest.
Despite resuscitation efforts by the Maritime Rescue crew and afterwards SUC medical personnel, she could not be revived and her death could only be confirmed.
The Guardia Civil took responsibility for the deceased woman's body until the arrival of judicial authorities and conducted the necessary proceedings to order its removal for an autopsy and official identification.
