Cloudy weather continues in the Canaries with a hint of rain
AEMET is forecasting a largely settled but changeable day across the Canary Islands today, Wednesday, with cloudy intervals, little change in temperatures, and light to moderate northeasterly winds turning northerly later in the afternoon.
Across the eastern islands, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, skies will feature mainly high cloud, while in Tenerife and the western islands cloud will build through the day. There is also a low probability of light, occasional rain later in the evening in the north of the more mountainous islands.
In central high ground areas of Tenerife, winds are expected to blow from the southwest, moderate to strong, with the possibility of occasional very strong gusts.
At sea, northerly or northeasterly winds of force 3 to 5 are forecast, with slight to moderate seas and a northerly swell of 1 to 2 metres.
Overall, it’s another mild spring day across the islands, with the best of the sunshine in the south and east, and a chance of light rain for northern areas later on.

Tenerife
Tenerife will start the day mostly clear with some high cloud, becoming cloudier from midday onwards, especially in the north where a brief, light shower cannot be ruled out late in the day. Temperatures will remain steady or rise slightly. Winds will be light to moderate from the northeast, stronger in the southeast and far northwest, turning northerly during the afternoon. Sea breezes are expected along the west coast. In the central peaks, southwest winds will be moderate to strong, with the risk of occasional very strong gusts.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and high of 24°C.
Gran Canaria
In Gran Canaria, the north and northeast will be cloudier, with a slight chance of light, occasional rain later in the day. Elsewhere, skies will be mostly clear with some high cloud. Temperatures will remain steady, although maximum temperatures may rise slightly in the mid-altitude areas of the north, locally reaching moderate increases. Moderate northeasterly winds are expected, with stronger intervals on southeast and western slopes. Breezes are likely along the southwest coast.
General temperature range: Low of 19°C and high of 23°C.
Lanzarote
In Lanzarote, cloudy intervals are expected, mainly high cloud, with some low cloud in the north early and late in the day. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged, with moderate northeasterly winds.
General temperature range: Low of 16°C and high of 23°C.
Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura will see similar conditions, with intervals of mainly high cloud and some low cloud early on. Temperatures will show little variation, accompanied by moderate northeasterly winds.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and high of 22°C.
