VIDEO: Helicopter rescue of injured fisherman trapped on rocks by rough seas
An SOS call from an injured fisherman who was at risk and in distress, due to the waves and the strong winds, in the municipality of Santiago del Teide in the South of Tenerife, needed a GES helicopter to rescue him yesterday.
Emergency services received an alert just after midday saying that the man was in trouble, and that the rising tide and bad weather meant that waves were starting to crash on to the rocks that he was stranded on.
In the video you can see that he is injured, and how one crew member is hoisted down to rescue him from the rocks in dangerous conditions. After his rescue, the fisherman was transferred straight to hospital and at the moment the state of his health is unknown.
