Huge tailbacks on the TF-1 motorway in the south of Tenerife indicated that an accident had taken place somewhere on the north-bound carriageway yesterday afternoon, however, there were actually two major accidents leaving three people seriously injured including a 5-year-old-boy.
The first incident was just after junction 69, which is the exit for Guaza in the municipality of Arona, where a 30-year-old man has been left in a serious condition in hospital after he was knocked off his motorcycle by a car.
Paramedics treated the man on the highway before transferring him to Hospiten Sur for further treatment.
At almost the same time, a second accident occurred by junction 63 at Las Chafiras in San Miguel de Abona, where ongoing roadworks for the new junction are taking place.
A 54-year-old man and a 5-year-old boy were both injured in a collision involving three cars, and were taken to hospital for treatment in a serious condition. At the moment there are no further details as to their nationalities or injuries.
