Man arrested for threatening to kill his brother-in-law with an axe in La Laguna
Members of the La Laguna Local Police in the north of Tenerife have arrested a 36-year-old man who threatened to kill his sister and brother-in-law with an axe, in a house located in the La Verdellada neighbourhood of San Cristobal de La Laguna.
The young woman and her partner went to the property after learning that her mother had received threats from her brother and had suffered a blackout, and needed to be taken to the University Hospital in the city (HUC).
According to the Local Police report, the sisters partner went in to the house to find out what had happened, and had a heated exchange with his brother-in-law, who took an axe and tried to attack him with it twice, one of which was from behind, but the intervention of a neighbour prevented the incident from getting worse.
Whilst this was going on, the sister remained waiting in the street until her partner came back out of the building, and her brother leaned out the window shouting: "I am going to kill you and your husband."
Having been called by a neighbour the La Laguna Local Police officers arrived at the scene of the events and went straight inside to try and talk to the man, who faced them with a potentially dangerous breed of dog that had a lead on, but no muzzle, and was encouraging it to attack the officers.
The man refused to back down and remained aggressive towards the police, who were forced to use an electric stun gun to reduce him. Once detained, the agents took the man to the San Benito health centre as a precaution, and then to the police station where he was charged. The mother is in a stable condition in hospital.
