Couple arrested after robbing a dozen petrol stations in Tenerife

The National Police have arrested two people, a man aged 29 and a woman aged 51, for robbing eight different petrol stations in Santa Cruz and La Laguna in the north of Tenerife.

Investigators learned of several robberies with force committed at petrol stations in very different areas of Tenerife including Ofra, El Sobradillo and Valle Tabares, but they realised that the method used was of a similar nature in all the robberies.

The couple stopped their next to the service station, with one of its occupants still inside while the other headed towards the car wash area. There he forced open the collection box of the jet washes and vacuum cleaners and took the cash.

Although it may not seem a big haul for the risk of getting caught, the police say that the couple have stolen over 1,500 in cash, and approximately 2,500 in damage as well to the machines.

After analysing the CCTV evidence given by the service stations, agents were able to identify the couple as they already have existing police records. In fact, they actually arrested them when they were preparing to commit another robbery. The man was found jumping the perimeter fence of a Valle Tabares station, while the woman waited in the vehicle.
