United Airlines announce that Tenerife to New York flights are ending

United Airlines (UA) has announced that they will be stopping their flights between Tenerife and New York in April 2025. The route had been extended to year-round service this year, but low passenger figures, especially during the summer, have prompted its re-evaluation.

United Airlines has been operating direct flights from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Tenerife South (TFS), making it convenient for travellers from New York to visit one of Spain's most sought-after holiday destinations.

This transatlantic route, which was launched as part of United's expanding European and leisure destination network, reduced travel time considerably compared to having to get connecting flights through European hubs.

United's modern fleet ensures a comfortable journey, offering a range of seating options, in-flight entertainment, and amenities. Passengers can expect to enjoy United's signature service, including options like Economy Plus for extra legroom or Polaris business class for a premium travel experience.

A spokesperson for United Airlines said: “United regularly adjusts its schedule for a variety of reasons including demand, the broader needs of our network and other factors.” The service between Newark/New York (EWR) and Tenerife, Spain (TFS) will end for the season on April 30th, 2025, but we do plan to resume service in late 2025 for the winter season.
