Two injured women trapped inside car after crashing off a bridge

Two women were injured late yesterday afternoon (Sunday) after their car swerved off the road and from a bridge in Tenerife, according to a report from the Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre.

The emergency services received a call at around 7:00pm yesterday evening informing that an accident had occurred and that a car had fallen from a bridge on the TF-5 motorway leaving several people injured.

An ambulance that was already in the area, arrived at the scene within minutes to give their first assessment of the accident and reported that two women were trapped inside the vehicle, prompting the fire brigade to be called to assist

On arrival, the Consortium Fire Service freed the two women and secured the area with their emergency vehicles until the Guardia Civil arrived to deal with the traffic.

Once free, paramedics attended to an 86-year-old woman, who had various serious injuries, and a 30-year-old woman for leg injuries, before taking both to hospital for further treatment. They also treated a man (age unknown) for shock.

After the accident, the Guardia Civil instructed the corresponding proceedings and the Insular Highway Centre was in charge of cleaning the debris from the road.
