Two French hikers were safely rescued after becoming stranded on a steep hillside within the Port of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria when they were unable to continue their descent. After realising they could not move safely in either direction, they called the Canary Islands emergency services for help.
The incident happened in a difficult-to-access area inside the port complex. Emergency operators at 112 quickly coordinated a rescue operation after receiving the hikers' call.
Officers from the Guardia Civil worked alongside the Port Police from the Port Authority of Las Palmas to locate the pair and guide them safely down the hillside. Thanks to the coordinated response, both hikers were rescued without injury.
The operation was completed without any personal injuries or further incidents. Authorities have not released further details about how the hikers became stranded.
