Tenerife Welcomes New Direct Flight from Warsaw, Poland

Tenerife has officially inaugurated a new direct flight route connecting Warsaw (Poland) to Tenerife South Airport. Operated by LOT Polish Airlines, the service will run three times a week on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, throughout the winter season until the end of March 2025.

The route will use Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, accommodating up to 189 passengers and offering business-class seating options.

Growth in Polish Tourism

Tenerife has become a key destination for Polish holidaymakers, capturing the largest share of Polish tourism among the Canary Islands. In 2023, the island recorded a 45.7% share of Polish air traffic and a 35.3% share in hotel and apartment bookings.

These figures have risen in 2024, with air traffic share reaching 50% and hotel bookings climbing to 38% by October.

Strategic Importance of the Route

Lope Afonso, Vice President and Tourism Minister of the Tenerife Cabildo, highlighted the significance of this new route for the island’s tourism strategy. “This marks another step forward in enhancing air connectivity, which is critical to positioning Tenerife as an attractive and competitive tourist destination,” he said. Afonso emphasized the growing importance of the Polish market, particularly during the winter season.

Dimple Melwani, CEO of Turismo de Tenerife, echoed this sentiment, noting that the new route aligns with the island’s strategic goals. “Securing direct routes with flagship airlines offering modern fleets and business-class cabins contributes to our commitment to sustainable mobility, a central element of our strategic plan,” she said.

Enhancing Connectivity

The launch of the Warsaw-Tenerife route highlights Tenerife’s focus on expanding its reach in key markets and strengthening its position as a year-round destination.

The addition of this service further bolsters the island's reputation as a top choice for Polish tourists seeking both leisure and convenience.
