SATURDAY WEATHER: Light drizzle and gusty winds forecast across the Canary Islands
The Canary Islands are expected to see light drizzle, moderate northeasterly winds and little change in temperatures today, Saturday, according to the latest forecasts from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
Cloudier conditions will affect northern areas of the islands, particularly during the morning, while eastern islands such as Lanzarote and Fuerteventura should see clearer spells around midday.
Winds may strengthen in exposed areas and higher ground, and sea conditions are expected to become rougher throughout the day.
Sea conditions
At sea, northeasterly winds of force 5 to 6 are expected, occasionally strengthening to force 7. Conditions will range from moderate to rough seas, locally becoming very rough in some areas.
A northerly swell of 1 to 2 metres is forecast to increase to between 3 and 4 metres during the day, with occasional showers possible across the archipelago.
Island-by-island forecast for Saturday 7th March 2026:
Lanzarote
Lanzarote will experience intervals of cloud with large sunny spells developing around the middle of the day. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged.
Moderate northeasterly winds are expected, with occasional stronger intervals inland and across western parts of the island, especially early in the day.
General temperatures: minimum of 14°C and a maximum of 19°C.
Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura will also see intervals of cloud with clearer skies expected during the central hours of the day. Temperatures will stay stable.
Moderate northeasterly winds are forecast, with stronger gusts likely along the east and west coasts and across the Jandía peninsula. Very strong gusts cannot be ruled out in exposed areas of Jandía.
General temperatures: minimum of 14°C and a maximum of 19°C.
Gran Canaria
Northern areas of Gran Canaria are expected to remain mostly cloudy with possible light drizzle during the early hours, particularly in mid-altitude areas. The rest of the island will see generally clearer conditions.
Moderate northeasterly winds are forecast, with stronger intervals along the northwest and southeast slopes. Very strong gusts may occur in these areas and in the island’s higher elevations, although winds should ease later in the day.
General temperatures: minimum of 15°C and a maximum of 20°C.
Tenerife
Cloudy skies are expected in the north and west of Tenerife, with possible light drizzle early in the day, mainly on the northern slopes. Other areas will experience partly cloudy conditions. Temperatures will remain stable, although weak frost could occur on the island’s central summits.
Moderate northeasterly winds are expected, with stronger intervals on the southeast slopes and the far west of the island. Very strong gusts are possible in exposed areas.
General temperatures: minimum of 15°C and a maximum of 20°C.
