Multiple vehicle pile-up on the TF-5 motorway leaves several injured

A major accident involving six vehicles on the TF-5 motorway, near the municipality of Icod de los Vinos, this afternoon (Friday), left six people injured with varying degrees of severity, according to reports from the emergency services.

The crash took place at approximately 2:40p.m., which is when the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) received a report of a multi-vehicle collision with people requiring medical assistance.

In response, five ambulances were dispatched to the scene, alongside the Tenerife Fire Brigade. Firefighters had to free one injured person trapped inside a vehicle before securing the site, and the road was temporarily closed to traffic to allow the emergency services to work safely.

Among those injured was a 25-year-old woman who sustained moderate trauma. Additionally, a 29-year-old woman and three men aged 35, 28, and 24 suffered mild injuries, including multiple contusions and whiplash. All were taken to health centres in the north of Tenerife for further care.

A 19-year-old woman was also taken to the Hospital del Norte for evaluation.

Once emergency operations concluded, road maintenance crews cleaned the motorway before it was reopened to traffic. The Local Police assisted at the scene, and the Guardia Civil took charge of controlling the traffic and filed the official accident report.

Authorities have not yet released the cause of the collision.
