A person reported missing in a remote area of northern Lanzarote was found safe and well yesterday evening (Wednesday) following a large-scale search operation involving several emergency services.
The search began at around 5pm after local police in Haría received reports that a person had disappeared in the Rincón de Aganada area, a rugged and difficult-to-access location in the north of the island.
Emergency teams, including firefighters, mountain rescue specialists, drone operators, paramedics, the Guardia Civil and Haría Local Police, were quickly sent to the area. Drones were also used to help search the challenging terrain.
After around 90 minutes of searching, a member of the rescue team spotted movement in an elevated rocky area. Rescue workers and local police officers made their way to the location and confirmed it was the missing person.
Emergency services said they were in generally good health but appeared slightly disorientated. A medical assessment was carried out before the person was safely escorted down to a secure area and reunited with family members.
